Cash4Life is a multi-state lottery with a grand prize of $1,000 per day for the rest of the winner’s life, as well as multiple other possible prizes.
For $2, players try to match the five white balls (1-60) and the Cash Ball (1-4) to win the top prize $1,000 a Day for Life. If you match only the five white balls (1-60) you win the second prize of $1,000 a Week for Life. Drawings are Mondays and Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. AND.
To play Cash4Life, you purchase a ticket consisting of 5 numbers from 1 to 60, and a Cash Ball number from one to four. Five of the 1 to 60 balls are drawn, along with the Cash Ball. If you match all the numbers, including the Cash Ball, you win $1,000 a day for the rest of your life. Matching some but not all the numbers can result in a prize as well.

Cash4Life is currently being offered in the following states:
- New Jersey
- New York
Cash4Life drawings are held every day at 9:00 PM EST.
The deadline for Cash4Life tickets varies from state to state. Generally, the rule is that purchases are allowed up to 30 minutes to the drawing deadline. Any purchases after that point would be matched to the next drawing.
If you’re planning to play Cash4Life, it’s a good idea to check the rules for the state in which you’d be buying a ticket.
Cash4Life tickets may only be purchased in the state in which the drawing will take place. Online or remote sales of Cash4Life tickets are not permitted at this time.
Certain services exist which will act as intermediaries for players unable to physically be in the states participating in Cash4Life. It’s a good idea to make sure any such service you’re using is reputable and safe.
Though Cash4Life is offered in each of the nine states, a Cash4Life ticket from one state has no validity in another state. A Cash4Life ticket from Florida would not win if the numbers match the drawing done in Maryland, and so on.
A Cash4Life ticket costs $2. Players in New Jersey have the option of adding $1 to their ticket price, which is called a “Side Bet”. Taking the Side Bet option doubles all non-lifetime prizes for that ticket.
The odds of winning Cash4Life are as follows:
- Matching five white balls (1-60) + Cash Ball (1-4) – 1 in 21,846,048

Cash4Life tickets expire at different date thresholds, usually in keeping with the state in question’s general rules about lottery ticket expiration. This can be anywhere from 180 days to up to a year.
It’s advisable to check with the individual state in which you’re playing Cash4Life.
In the event that a $1,000 per day or $1,000 per week winner passes away, a minimum of 20 annual payments will still be made. In this case, the payments would go to the deceased winner’s estate. Heirs to the estate would have the option to either continue to receive annual payments, or they can take the lump sum annuity payment at that time as well.
In the event that either no one matches the full set of numbers, or if a winning ticket was sold but is then not claimed, the money from ticket sales are allocated to the respective states in proportion to ticket sales within the individual states.
